The members of the Puerto Rican Medicine Hall of Famecolleagues and family members gathered to honor the memory of the specialists who are no longer here today and those who continue to offer their knowledge at the service of medicine in Puerto Rico.
In the second ceremony, homage was paid to Dr. Isaac González, Dr. Oscar Costa Mandry, Dr. Manuel de la Pila Iglesias, Dr. Bailey Kelly Ashford, Dr. Guillermo Picó Santiago, Dr. Ana Judith Román García, Dr. Amalia «Mayin» Martínez Pico, Dra. Lilian Haddock Suárez, Dr. A.S. Norman Maldonado and in Hospital Auxilio Mutuo.
The exaltation of these professionals included mentioning the treatments and discoveries of which they were part in the 20th century, showing off the struggles regarding those first steps in medical initiatives in Puerto Rico.
The Puerto Rican League Against Cancer (1938), the first investigations once morest leishmaniasis, are one of the mentions of the Dr. Isaac Gonzálezwho is also praised for his contribution to the work of cancer research.
For her part, Dr. Amalia Martínez was praised for her work in the pediatric cardiology clinical service.
Pioneer in caring for children and for whom today cardiology surgeries are classified as emergencies, a product of importance and care.
It was the one that eradicated rheumatic fever in Puerto Rico in the 1960s, and also promoted pediatric cardiology training.
«The greatest satisfaction is because the child does not lie, the baby is a white book, you look for the return and you change his life. Medicine is not a career to become a millionaire of things, but of satisfaction », he expressed in a video presented at the event.

Of Dr. Oscar Costa Mandry, highlighted his contribution regarding dysentery associated with hurricanes in Puerto Rico, his latest contribution being regarding Hurricane Katrina (2005). The school of medical technology was also a contribution that gives him the name of the “Father of Medical Technology”.
Part of the honors is Dr. Lillian Haddock Suárez, who stressed that her greatest satisfaction has been teaching the new generations.
«The achievements that one has in his life is from many people, from many people and from many entities. First my family, my parents, my brothers. The second support is from my disciples, my fellows”, she highlighted, visibly moved, accompanied by her family, colleagues and friends.
Lastly, the Dr. A.S. Norman Maldonadoan oncologist hematologist, was emphatic in celebrating these spaces that celebrate doctors and revive their contributions so that new generations of doctors can get to know them through their contributions to medicine.
Maldonado was also honored for being a benchmark in research and contributions in the fight once morest cancer.
