Puchberg Castle celebrates 70 years

For 70 years, the Renaissance Puchberg Castle of the Diocese of Linz has been a center of adult education. This year, around 900 of our own educational events are on the program, including in the areas of theology, society, sustainability, health, creativity, relationships and family. The offer is supplemented by courses from external providers.

“Creating an attractive educational program that people accept is a challenge. I think we’re doing well in Puchberg, and the numbers confirm that,” says Director Helmut Ausserwöger. The Eferdinger has been managing the Wels training center with around 40 employees since 2018. After the difficult pandemic years, he is pleased that the number of visitors is now back to the pre-Corona level. According to Ausserwöger, the second challenge is always adapting the infrastructure to the requirements of the time and the guests. After a major renovation of the roof, the facade and the sgraffito in the castle courtyard in 2019, the rooms of the seminar hotel with 150 beds, the kitchen and the reception will have to be renovated in the near future.

Ceremony with Bishop Scheuer

The 70th anniversary will be on Thursday with a free concert with Franz Froschauer (beginning: 8 p.m.) and on Friday with an open house, a church service and a subsequent ceremony with Bishop Manfred Scheuer and Education Minister and LH Deputy Christine Haberlander celebrated. A special premiere will take place on Friday. The well-known Wels filmmaker Andreas Gruber will present his film about the Bildungshaus. He also has a personal connection to Puchberg, his father Josef Gruber was the first director of the Bildungshaus. Before the film presentation, the pastoral theologian Klara Csiszar will give her lecture on church educational institutions. (krai)
