The Minister of Finance, Aboubacar Nacanabo, visited the schools under construction in Bobo-Dioulasso, financed by PRISE.

The Minister of Economy, Finance and Prospective, Aboubacar Nacanabo, visited the industrial units financed by the Burkinabè Fund for Economic and Social Development (FBDES) as well as the school infrastructures built by the Program for the realization of socio-economic infrastructures (PLUG). It was May 1, 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso.

The Ministry of Economy, Finance and Prospective supports, through the Burkinabè Fund for Economic and Social Development (FBDES), about ten industrial units in the town of Bobo-Dioulasso. The head of the ministerial department in charge of the economy, Aboubacar Nacabo, visited some of these companies on May 1, 2023.

This is the Traoré Tenin Company, which specializes in the production, processing and export of local products. The FBDES supported this company to the tune of 50 million CFA francs in the transformation of shea into several products such as butter, soap or ointments. This company, created in 2013, employs around forty people and works with 150 cooperatives and a network of nearly 1,000 women who provide it with the raw material, namely shea.

From this undertaking, the Minister’s delegation went to Wolosama, about forty kilometers from Bobo-Dioulasso. In this village, the Agricultural Products Marketing Company (SOCOPA-Afrique Sa) is setting up a cereal storage complex. The FBDES supports its promoters with 1.6 billion CFA francs, including 1.475 billion reserved for investments. The fund also injected 1.4 billion CFA into the Céleste du Faso oil mill, which produces edible oil.

This oil mill also received a visit from the Minister of Finance. The promoters of these various units visited expressed their gratitude to the FBDES, whose funding made it possible either to set up their company or to relaunch their activities or productions. For the chairman of the board of directors of the FBDES, Santeré Sanon, the necessary will be done so that the work of construction of industrial units can start so that the fund can achieve the expected results which are to strengthen the industrial fabric, jobs and to provide populations with competitive products.

Reduce overstaffing

The FBDES supports the Agricultural Products Marketing Company to set up in Wolosama.

The ministry in charge of the economy is delighted with this support, convinced that the public sector alone cannot absorb a large number of young job seekers if there is no support. “We are happy to see that the Burkinabè are fighting to support the State in its efforts. The State tries to do what it can especially in the creation of jobs.

For this, the FDBES accompanies many units in Bobo-Dioulasso as in Ouagadougou. Those we visited in the city of Bobo reassure us that the State must always support industrial units to make their contribution to the creation of wealth and jobs,” suggested Mr. Nacanabo. In addition to the industrial units, the Minister visited classrooms built by the Program for the realization of socio-economic infrastructures (PRISE) in Bobo-Dioulasso.

There are three blocks of three classes, two of which have been built within the Colsama schools and one at the Bindougousso primary school. For the Minister of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Joseph André Ouédraogo, these new classes will reduce the overcrowding observed in schools due to the security crisis which has led to a massive displacement of pupils in the fallback zones, including Bobo-Dioulasso. According to PRISE coordinator Aboubcar Idani, around twenty schools will be built in 2023 in Burkina Faso.
