The medical reports of examining the driver of the drowned Minibus microbus, which caused the death and injury of the passengers of a bus he was driving in Minya Governorate, revealed positive use of hashish and opium, and investigations are ongoing.

The Public Prosecution ordered the detention of the accused for 4 days in pretrial detention for causing the death and injury of the passengers of a bus he was driving in Minya. This resulted from his negligence, carelessness and lack of caution; For driving the bus at excessive speed while he was using narcotic substances, which led to its deviation and its fall into the water. The accident has resulted in the death of six to date and the injury of five passengers, and search, rescue and investigation operations are still underway to ensure that the water is free of others.

The Public Prosecution had received a report from the police on the evening of May 21, regarding the fall of a microbus in the Ibrahimiya Canal in the village of Al-Bargaia on the Egypt-Aswan Agricultural Road in Minya Governorate, and the death and injury of some of its occupants. And various news websites, including rumors regarding the cause of its occurrence, stating that the bus driver threatened the passengers to intentionally drop it into the water if they did not pay him an extra fare than what they paid, so the competent prosecution took over the investigations.

As I moved to the hospital to discuss the bodies of the deceased, and question the injured, whose testimonies recurred regarding the bus driver’s attempt to avoid an industrial bump, he was surprised on the road if he was going too fast, which resulted in the steering wheel being disrupted from his hand and falling into the water, and two of them confirmed the incorrectness of the rumors circulating regarding The bus driver threatened the passengers before the accident occurred.

By questioning the Public Prosecution Office, the accused denied the accusations once morest him, and claimed that the accident occurred as a result of a sudden malfunction in the bus brakes. The Public Prosecution ordered his detention pending investigations and the analysis of a sample of him to show the extent of his use of narcotic substances. The examination confirmed the positive use of hashish and opium, and investigations are ongoing.

The Public Prosecution asked a witness to the accident, who confirmed its occurrence according to the picture concluded by the testimony of the injured, accusing the bus driver of causing it to drive at excessive speed. Its deviation and the disruption of the steering wheel from its driver, and the Public Prosecution found that, from the inspection of the scene of the accident, there was damage to the fence of the Al-Burjaia Bridge, and the absence of traces of tire restraint on the road, or the presence of any monitoring machines overlooking it.
