Public-private partnership boosts electromobility in Paraguay

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Industry and Commerce reports that within the framework of the Project for the implementation of the Task Paraguay Center for Auto Parts and the Pilot Plan for Electric Mobility in the country, the closing of the second participatory technical-level workshop was held, with the participation of the Vice Minister of Industry, Lorena Méndez.

During the second edition of this workshop, organized by Bakela Corporation, work was intensified on the action plan based on 3 objectives of the National Electric Mobility Strategy, within the framework of decree No. 8840/2023, whose items were analyzed and focused on infrastructure, bus pilot plan and Information and Dissemination.

The same applies to possible priority actions and the creation of a roadmap with a clear process and specific goals, as well as monitoring and follow-up of these.

Vice Minister Méndez highlighted the experience of a country as important and advanced as South Korea in technology and electromobility, which she considered of utmost importance because it will allow for taking defined and coordinated steps for the continuous and consistent development of the industry.

He said that these participatory spaces are very important because they bring together representatives from the public and private sectors to work in the same direction in an articulated manner, generating the necessary reforms. He also mentioned the incorporation and involvement of the private sector in this type of technical spaces.

At this point, he pointed out that there is a lot of work to be done and that Korean cooperation allows for working in a coordinated and orderly manner in order to have the necessary documents and, above all, to provide predictability to the investment of industries such as suppliers or development of the local industry.

Technical representatives from the National Electricity Administration, the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, Environment and Sustainable Development, and Economy and Finance also participated in this workshop. The Development Finance Agency, the National Agency for Traffic and Road Safety, the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy, the National Institute of Technology, Standardization and Metrology, the Itaipú Technological Park and Itaipú Binacional, the National Service for Professional Promotion, and the technical representation of the Paraguayan Industrial Chamber of Motorcycles and Automobiles also participated.
