The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced the results of the National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK). From the survey, it was found that the community’s financial literacy index reached 65.43% and the financial inclusion index was 75.02% in 2023.

“Based on the results of the 2024 SNLIK, the financial literacy index is 65.43% and the financial inclusion index is 75.02%,” said Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti when releasing the 2024 SNLIK Results at the BPS office in Jakarta, Friday (2/8).

He explained that the conventional financial literacy index was at 65.08% and the financial inclusion index was at 73.55%. Meanwhile, the sharia financial literacy index was recorded lower, at 39.11% and the sharia financial inclusion index was only 12.88%.

SNLIK was conducted in 34 provinces and 120 districts/cities, with the number of respondents reaching 10,800 people with varying ages, namely 15 years-79 years.

“The results of SNLIK 2024 provide a comprehensive picture of the level of national financial literacy and inclusion and can reflect the population of Indonesia,” he explained.

On the same occasion, the Chief Executive of the Financial Services Business Conduct Supervisory Agency, Education, and Consumer Protection of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Frederica Widyasari Dewi said that the urban composite financial literacy index was recorded at 69.71% and rural areas at 59.25%.

“Meanwhile, the urban composite financial inclusion index is at 78.41% and 70.13% in rural areas,” he added.

The higher level of literacy and financial inclusion in urban communities compared to rural areas is due to differences in access to information. (E-2)
