Public Health will expand the cancer diagnosis and treatment network

Assumption, IP.- The head of the National Program for the Prevention of Cervical and Breast Cancer of the Ministry of Health, Nelly Maldonado, announced that this year the network of centers for diagnosis and treatment of precursor lesions of cervical cancer will be expanded.

The expansion will focus on the three regions prioritized by the national government, over the next three years: Canindeyú, Concepción and San Pedro. According to the professional, these areas of the country will have diagnostic and treatment centers (PAP, cervical biopsies and outpatient treatment of precursor lesions).

He added that, starting this year, a travel schedule for the “mobile leep” is planned, a high-frequency surgery team that will be installed in the Family Health Units, positions that attract the largest number of patients because they are the gateway to Public Health services.

“This equipment removes the lesion with local anesthesia, it is a very successful method. The lady who has the lesion heals and does not develop the infiltrating lesion, that is, it prevents the tumor from advancing,” she explained.

The Ministry of Health has diagnostic centers (colposcopy) and treatment centers for cervical cancer precursor lesions, where services are provided free of charge to users.
