Abu Dhabi: The UAE Cabinet has formed a new committee to lead public health protection. The objective of the National Public Health Committee is to coordinate the health systems to prevent the spread of disease and prevent infectious diseases.
Along with this, the Cabinet on Wednesday approved the reorganization of the UAE Health Council.
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
The committee will be responsible for developing preparedness and mechanisms to address all health challenges affecting the people and society.
Health Minister Abdurrahman Al Uwaisi is the chairman of the committee. The committee also has the responsibilities of planning the measures to be taken in emergency situations.
The Ministry of Health, health authorities and other institutions will coordinate and supervise research and studies. The Health Minister will also be the Chairman of the reconstituted Health Council.
The council is responsible for the issues facing the health sector at the federal and local levels and legislation related to this sector.
