Public Health has authorization for a public tender to hire 1,285 human resources for the future Hospital of Coronel Oviedo

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Among the challenges and achievements in the area of ​​Public Health, Minister María Teresa Barán reported the authorization of the National Economic Team (EEN) to call for a public tender to hire 1,285 human resources that will be part of the Gran Hospital de Coronel Oviedo, whose work is about to be completed. The Secretary of State emphasized that the opportunity to participate will also be given to professionals, within the Government’s policy that is the first job.

This was stated during his presentation at the Council of Ministers, where he also stressed that improving the quality of public health care is the main objective of this administration.

The building of the future Coronel Oviedo Hospital has a constructed area of ​​20,000 square meters, and also has parking for approximately 1,000 vehicles, and a fully equipped helipad for air transfers of patients.

The modern health infrastructure in the region will directly benefit more than 600,000 people in the Caaguazú department.

Another of the most important advances mentioned by the Minister of Public Health in the country’s health sector is the implementation of night clinics, a measure under which 310,552 consultations have already been attended to in the country’s 35 hospitals.

He also mentioned the surgical marathons that are being carried out in the 11 health regions of the country and in the Military Hospital with 3,813 surgeries, from August 2023 to May 2024; as well as 224 itinerant pediatric reconstructive surgeries, with the help of the Paraguayan Society of Pediatric Surgery.

Barán stressed that, for the first time, kidney transplant surgery is being performed in a decentralized manner at the Alto Paraná Hospital, where three surgeries of this nature have already been carried out.

Among other advances, he mentioned teledengue, which is another of the innovations implemented with which he attended to more than 25,000 patients from home nationwide, resulting in 117 people being referred to health centers, and thus preventing hospitals from collapsing.

The registration of 187,000 chronic patients nationwide is another achievement that has improved care for the population, since this measure established that patients must go to collect their medications every month and go to the doctor’s office every three months.

Regarding mental health, Barán reported that 200 professionals from the Family Health Team have been trained for rapid response in Family Unit centers, in addition to being in the process of enabling the National Addiction Center; and decentralizing the care of people with mental problems in the departmental capitals of the country.

The Health Information System (HIS), which allows traceability of medicines received and delivered, in addition to improving care for the population, is currently already implemented in 508 health services throughout the country, at all levels, is another of the achievements mentioned by Barán. He highlighted that this year alone they were implemented in 268 public health hospitals.
