Public Health accelerates procedures to acquire medicine for young woman hospitalized in IPS

Asuncion, IP Agency.- In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPyBS) said that “committed to the health and well-being of all citizens” they are “expediting as much as possible the necessary procedures” to acquire the specific medication for the 17-year-old girl with leukemia who is being treated at the Social Security Institute (IPS).

She says that together with the IPS she is working hard to guarantee comprehensive and quality care for the insured patient. She reiterates that the interest is to identify the company that can import the medication prescribed for the young woman’s therapy as soon as possible.

He clarified that such medicine is not part of the Ministry of Health’s list of medicines, and that it does not have sanitary registration in the country, so it must be imported after identifying the company.

The Ministry of Health reported that on Friday, July 19, it received a court order for the acquisition of the specific medication. In order to comply with the ruling and ensure the necessary treatment for the patient, the call for the purchase of the medication was published on Tuesday, July 23.
