Public and private companies owe more than 590 million Kwanzas to the INSS – Jornal OPaís

Public and private companies in the province of Cunene have an accumulated debt valued at more than 590 million kwanzas, for not depositing their workers’ monthly payments to the National Social Security Institute (INSS)

The fact was revealed by the executive administrator of the INSS, Samuel Mulaja, during the seminar on the process of executing debts for mandatory social protection, addressed to those responsible for different public and private bodies. According to the official, there are 948 taxpayers in debt in the province of Cunene, which undermines the sustainability of the mandatory social protection system.

He recalled that paying workers’ social security is an employer’s obligation, so that workers can benefit from their rights at retirement age, without any constraints. The administrator also mentioned that the INSS is the entity responsible for guaranteeing compensation for workers in situations of social risk, through the payment of benefits made by contributions from workers and their respective employers.

The seminar aimed to share the legal mechanisms available for collecting company debts. In Cunene, 3,500 public and private companies are registered, with a total of 38,537 workers, as well as 2,124 pensioners who regularly benefit from their respective pensions.
