PDIP DPP Chairwoman Puan Maharani said that her party is considering President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, for the 2024 Central Java Gubernatorial Election. PDIP Deputy Secretary General Utut Adianto emphasized that the decision regarding the figure to be nominated will be made through a PDIP Central Leadership Council (DPP) meeting.

“So if Mas Kaesang, Mbak Puan said earlier that it will be considered, of course everything will be considered. But who will be decided will be through a meeting at the DPP,” said Utut at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Utut said that currently PDIP is preparing all the candidates to be nominated in the 2024 Pilkada. However, specifically in Central Java, he is leaning towards Andika Perkasa to be able to advance representing PDIP.

“If Mr. Andika wants to advance, he will at least give a sense of security among the cadres in Central Java,” said Utut.

Previously, Puan Maharani responded to the results of a poll by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) which stated that President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, was ahead in the 2024 Central Java Gubernatorial Election. Puan considered the survey results to be good.

“It’s okay, Kaesang is good,” said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 2, 2024

The DPR Speaker revealed that Kaesang was being considered by PDIP to be nominated in the 2024 Central Java Gubernatorial Election. Although PDIP Bappilu Chair Bambang Wuryanto also had the opportunity to be nominated.

“Yes, of course, that’s one of the considerations too,” said Puan. (Z-8)
