Oil Prices Rise, DPR Warns of Impact on Other Commodities
DPR Speaker Puan Maharani warned that the impact of the increase in the price of subsidized cooking oil MinyaKita and its scarcity would have an impact on other commodities.
“If not resolved as soon as possible, this cooking oil problem could have widespread impacts. Usually, an increase in the price of a product will affect the price of other commodities. Again, the people will be increasingly burdened, and we must avoid that,” said Puan in a written statement, Sunday (21/7).
The DPR, Puan said, has made various supervision efforts to overcome the scarcity of MinyaKita in the market. Supervision of the distribution of cheap cooking oil must also be tightened.
The PDIP DPP chairman asked for government assertiveness to smooth the distribution flow. Because the high price of MinyaKita to the scarcity of stock makes traders choose to sell non-subsidized cooking oil because the price is not much different.

“This is what the government must note because in addition to the price increase before the announcement, there is also a shortage of subsidized cooking oil on the market,” said Puan.
Puan asked members of the House of Representatives to monitor the development of subsidized cooking oil and community commodities in the market. Because the results of the council’s supervision will be a joint evaluation by the government.
“Take advantage of this recess period by going to the market to check the prices of basic necessities in your respective electoral districts. Absorb the aspirations and hopes of the people,” said Puan.
Previously, Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan said the Highest Retail Price (HET) for people’s cooking oil or MinyaKita of Rp15,700 per liter was already in effect. The legal umbrella in the form of the Minister of Trade Regulation on the latest HET for MinyaKita was also said to be enacted next week.
