CHIEF DPR RI Puan Maharani confirmed her attendance at the ceremony to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the Capital City of the Archipelago. Meanwhile, the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, is confirmed not to attend the state event.

“So God willing, I will go to the IKN,” said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 16, 2024.

Megawati will attend the commemoration ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day at the Party School, PDIP South Jakarta. The event will be held starting in the morning and will be attended by the ranks of the PDIP DPP and 5,000 PDIP Task Forces.

“There is an event in Lenteng Agung with a party structure,” explained Puan.

Previously, Megawati did not answer clearly when it was confirmed whether she would attend or not the 79th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at the Indonesian IKN.

“I (attend or not?), yes, ask the owner,” said Megawati at the National Gallery of Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Megawati was reluctant to respond when asked whether she had received an invitation to attend the ceremony at the IKN. She instead asked the media crew not to provoke with sensitive questions.

Megawati also challenged the media crew whether they were ready to take responsibility when she answered completely. Even if it was reported to the police.

“You want to take responsibility if I tell the truth, do you dare to take responsibility?” he said.
