Former Finance Minister and Senator of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Shaukat Tareen Senat has resigned from the membership of the Upper House.

He said that after consulting his family and friends, he is withdrawing from politics.
He had said that the last two years have been very difficult in terms of finances and health, two or three times Covid happened, that’s why I am leaving both PTI and Senate membership on the advice of family and friends.
The former finance minister had said that I have tried my best to do whatever I can for the country but at the moment health is not permitting.
It should be noted that Shaukat Tareen, who was part of the People’s Party in the past, had announced to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf after coming to power in 2018.
Shaukat Tareen, who had also held the responsibilities of Finance Minister in the past, was once again entrusted with this position and was appointed as the Finance Minister in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
However, after six months, he was removed from the position of Finance Minister and made Finance Advisor. According to Article 93 of the Constitution, he could only be a Federal Minister for 6 months because any person to be a part of the Cabinet must be a Senator or a Nationalist.
