PTI approaches Supreme Court to remove caretaker governments – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the caretaker governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Tehreek-e-Insaaf has started legal proceedings on the issue of the resignation of the two governments after the completion of the caretaker governments in Punjab and Pakhtunkhwa.

PTI President Pervaiz Elahi and Mehmood Khan filed a petition in the Supreme Court, requesting the immediate removal of the caretaker chief ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the completion of their constitutional term.

In the petition, apart from immediately stopping the two caretaker chief ministers from using their powers, the Supreme Court has also been requested to formulate a procedure for running the day-to-day affairs of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under their supervision.

It was requested by the PTI that the court should formulate a procedure under its supervision to take care of the day-to-day affairs till the formation of the elected governments as a result of holding the general elections.

The secretaries of Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Law and Justice, Principal Secretaries of the President and Prime Minister have been made parties in the petition.

In its petition, PTI has also made the Election Commission of Pakistan a party, apart from the caretaker chief ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
