PTA bans 5 applications including Tinder

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked five applications including Tinder in the country.

Applications and live streaming sites that have been blocked by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority include Tinder, Tagged, Scout, Grindr and Seihi.

The PTA had said that it has come to know that a large volume of obscene content is being provided through Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and therefore, “You are requested to ensure that any obscene content delivered to users through CDNs is /Ensure not to provide unethical/illegal content and submit a compliance report in this regard within 10 days of this letter’.

The PTA warned that necessary regulatory action would be taken in case of continued non-compliance in this regard.

Earlier, PTA had issued a final notice to popular application Tik Tok on inappropriate videos after which the company claimed to have removed more than 3.7 million inappropriate videos in Pakistan.
