Psychonauts 2 unveils a free 10-hour documentary on its development | Xbox One

Available since August 2021 on PC and consoles, Psychonauts 2 might well be back in the spotlight with a long making-of.

The game will have no more secrets for you

Although it was widely appreciated by fans and the press upon its release, as evidenced by its socree of 89 on Metacritic, the Double Fine Productions title is nonetheless a niche game. Of course, its integration into Game Pass has allowed many members of the service to freely try their hand at the adventures of the young Raz, but we are still far from a player curve similar to that of a huge Xbox blockbuster. .

So, chances are you’ve missed out on the game and all it has to offer. To remedy this and make the behind the scenes of creating a video game much more accessible, members of the studio recently released a long documentary entitled Double Fine PsychOdyssey for free. Available on YouTube and broken down into thirty-two separate parts for over 22 hours of programming.

According to the company’s description, this making-of traces the entire process of creating the game. It also shows how the studio was “faced with the pressure to produce a worthy sequel” in a period when there were many financial difficulties. A real boon for the teams, the takeover of the studio by Microsoft is also an important part of this documentary.

We therefore strongly invite you to start watching this long making-of, which might undoubtedly make you want to dive into Psychonauts 2. The game has been available since August 25, 2021 on PC, PS4 (and PS5 via backward compatibility because there is no native version), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. As mentioned above, the game is also integrated into the Game Pass catalog.
