ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is planning to bring a psychologist with the team when it comes to India for the ODI Cricket World Cup. The Pakistani cricket team hopes that this will help them overcome the intense pressure of the matches held in India. A final decision in this regard will be taken following captain Babar Azam meets Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf. Assam is currently playing for Colombo Strikers in the Lankan Premier League.

“Saka believes that having a psychologist with the players will help. It can also be useful when the team is underperforming or under pressure from outside. Psychologist Maqbool Babri has previously worked with Pakistani cricketers. He also went to India with the Pakistan team during 2012-13,” said a Pakistan Cricket Board official to the international media.

Before going to India for the 2011 World Cup, the Pakistani players received the advice of psychologists. Pakistan has not yet taken a final decision on whether to go to India to play the ODI World Cup. A complaint has also been raised that the committee appointed by the government of Pakistan is delaying the decision in this regard. Pakistan has matches in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
