Dr. Menen Abdel Maksoud, Secretary General of the General Secretariat revealed for mental health and Addiction Treatment, affiliated to the Ministry of Health, and its preparations to provide psychological support to returnees from Sudan.
Training medical teams in Aswan on psychological support
Dr. Menen Abdel Maksoud explained to Cairo 24 that teams of psychiatrists were trained on initial psychological support and psychological first aid at the Aswan Mental Health Hospital to support the returnees from Sudan.
The Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Mental Health added that all medical teams in primary care centers and hospitals in Aswan Governorate will be trained on psychological first aid for returnees from Sudan.
Dr. Menen Abdel Maqsoud indicated that the majority of returnees from Sudan are of a high cultural and social level, and are aware of the importance of psychological support, stressing that they are keen to go to mental health clinics at the border crossings.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the provision of specialized dental services to 3,846,516 citizens in health units and public hospitals in all governorates of the Republic, during the first quarter of this year.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that 26 treatment and educational convoys specialized in the field of dentistry were implemented in the governorates of Cairo and Giza, providing services such as gum treatment, dental fillings, and lime cleaning to 6,464 citizens, pointing to the work of an educational program. Educating 286,934 citizens regarding ways to take care of oral and dental health.
