Published since 2018 Secchiron New music every two years. The British quartet recently welcomed two new musicians and took the opportunity to significantly expand their songwriting, which represents relaxed, slightly planned rock from the desert, somewhere between stoner riffs and psychedelia. between. With the Magnetic Eye, the island’s gentlemen now have a new home and are delivering goods “Distorted Vision” A very accessible and entertaining debut novel.
Scrubbing yet playful opener “Jasmine” is a light-hearted declaration of war, very casual yet fierce. The constant interplay between relaxed psychedelia and driving desert rock puts you in a good mood, with the vocals burning themselves straight up only to build to the next break with a scrubbed bass line. Stop here, block a little there – it’s that simple. As far as song titles go, “Let’s Go” might be a more appropriate opening, but the song gets lost in the lengthy intro. The following stoner doom stomper really takes a step forward, sinking deeper and deeper into the subconscious, delivering supreme entertainment value while also smelling deliciously putrid.
Overall, the album becomes increasingly unique, but also increasingly accessible, much like Psychlona is now. The dreamy “Split” feels right at home in space, driven by a conservative, open-ended sound world that’s hard to tame in terms of intensity. In fact, the song still seems light and fun and fits the picture, including the epic solo. A few doors down, “Topanga” really packs a punch, adopting a laid-back blues-rock theme that’s perfect for desert stomps. A rough, onomatopoeic style, endless riffs and soulful, almost wholehearted singing – the recipe ultimately works, too.
Thus, Psychlona is finally integrated at a high level. While absolute highlights like “Blast Off” are missing this time around, the record as a whole seems more cohesive and stronger. The desert comes alive in “Twisted Vision,” especially in these seemingly endless spiritual journeys that bite into each other with increasing fervor, only to be demolished by a veritable wall of reef. The British quartet increasingly emphasizes the extremes of their sound without getting lost or losing any power. Psychlona was also at her best in Game 4.
