Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon reacted strongly to the hiring of Sandro Grande as head coach of the CF Montreal reserve team on Twitter Monday evening.
In 2012, Grande posted a message on her Twitter account following the Metropolis attack on Prime Minister Pauline Marois.
The message, which Grande never admitted to writing, said the shooter’s only mistake was missing his target. However, he admitted to having written a post on Facebook where he insulted the sovereignists.
Paul St-Pierre-Plamondon didn’t mince words regarding the new coach.
“Grande did not make a single trivial mistake or tweet too many one night, he repeatedly made filthy and criminal remarks targeting more than 2 million people. [Québécois] separatists, he wrote at the end of a series of tweets. This tacit guarantee by CF Montreal is untenable and extremely uncomfortable.
1/4 The PQ strongly denounces this unacceptable appointment.
As a reminder, in the hours following the Metropolis tragedy, Grande posted this: “The only mistake the shooter made last night was missing his target! Marois! Next time dude! I hope!” https://t.co/dfXzkxJavu

Grande wore the colors of the Montreal Impact on two occasions during his long career as a midfielder, between 2004 and 2005, as well as between 2008 and 2009. After retiring as an athlete in 2013, the native of Montreal took the leap as a leader. Until recently, he was the technical director of FC Laval.
