PSJA students receive experience in the medical field

Students participating in the PSJA Health Institute are considering the medical field as a potential career.

More than 600 students signed up to participate in the institute and got a close look at what goes on inside a hospital by following doctors and other healthcare workers.

“They want to know more regarding the career options available to them,” said PSJA Director of Health Services Sulema Solis.

South Texas Health System CEO Lance Ames said the area needs more healthcare workers.

“The Valley is in such great need of health care services, and we are here to help them figure out how to take their next steps,” Ames said. “To know what degrees to follow, what certificates to take.”
