Paris Saint-Germain announced its separation from coach Mauricio Pochettino following spending 18 months in the position, and one year before the end of his contract on Tuesday.
“Paris Saint-Germain confirms that Mauricio Pochettino has ended his career with the club,” Saint-Germain said in a statement on their website.
“The club would like to thank Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for their work and wishes them success in the future.”
Pochettino took charge in January 2021 and won the French League title in the 2021-2022 season and the French Cup in the 2020-2021 season, but he failed to win the Champions League, the only title that has been missing from the club’s coffers since the Qatar Investment Authority acquired it in 2011.
Christophe Galtier is expected to coach Paris Saint-Germain, as club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said a few days ago that he was in negotiations with Nice, who moved quickly and appointed former Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre.
