PSG: Marquinhos summoned with Brazil at the end of January, not Neymar

PSG will receive Nice in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France without its captain. Marquinhos was summoned this Thursday by Tite, Brazilian coach, for the two qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup scheduled between January 24 and February 2.

The Parisian defender is one of the 26 players called up for this particular international break, which only concerns the American continent. Neymar continues to rehabilitate his ankle and will not be on the trip to face Ecuador (January 27) and Paraguay (February 2).

Already qualified, Brazil has all the same summoned all the available executive players. From Thiago Silva (Chelsea) to Vinicius (Real Madrid) via Lucas Paqueta (Lyon) or Alisson (Liverpool).

These two matches should have taken place in March 2021 but the health crisis had forced the various American confederations (CONMEBOL and CONCACAF) to change their schedule.

For PSG, this truce might therefore also concern four Argentines (Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes and Mauro Icardi) and Costa Rican Keylor Navas. The invitations have not yet been announced for these two selections. Regarding Messi, coach Lionel Scaloni left him the choice not to go to South America at the end of January. Already qualified also, the Albiceleste must move to 2,200 m altitude for a shock in Chile and then receive Colombia in Buenos Aires.

During the last international break in November, the seven-fold Golden Ball launched to his fans: “Thank you once more for all the affection you bring to us. In January, God willing, we’ll see each other once more ”. A short sentence interpreted by the local press as a definitive “yes” to his presence. But he has since contracted Covid-19 and has still not resumed collective training with PSG.
