PSG beat Real Madrid 1-0 in stoppage time | INTERNATIONAL

Paris Saint-Germain beat Real Madrid 1-0 on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at the Parc des Princes.

A goal from Kylian Mbappé (90+4) put the Parisian team ahead for the second leg on March 9 at the Santiago Bernabéu, following a match in which Real Madrid might only resist to avoid a bigger win.

The two leaders of their respective league championships meet at the Parc des Princes in Paris, in the most attractive match of this tie, which is reached following a controversial round of 16 draw. Some errors in that draw led to its repetition following, at first, Real Madrid would have been matched with the Portuguese Benfica, a rival ‘a priori’ more affordable, and PSG with Manchester United.

Parisians and Madridistas will face each other once more following their clashes in the group stage in 2019 (a victory for PSG and a draw), and in the second round of 2018, with a victory for Real Madrid. “There is no favorite, it is a direct elimination match that might be a Champions League final, by names, by all the qualities of the two teams, by the players,” Pochettino said on Monday.
