News hardware PS5: Sony gains in accessibility with this tool dedicated to DualSense
While accessibility is increasingly included in the specifications of the video game industry, many efforts still need to be made. One of the sectors for improvement remains that of accessories, where the levers are difficult to use for people with disabilities. Something that gives ideas to the most creative.

La MonoSense
In a video published at the end of last week, Youtubeur Akaki Kuumeri features one of his own creations: the DualSense, the PS5 controller, revisited so that it can be used with one hand. He uses Rocket League, Yakuza 0 and Grand Theft Auto V as examples to illustrate his creation. Thanks to a 3D printer, he built a sort of rubber suit, connected to “a shoe“behind the controller. With a support (table, thigh, magazine …) the movements of the right hand move the joystick, which in turn makes the left joystick move. What regarding the L1 and L2 buttons, located on the left of the controller? Always thanks to his 3D printer, Akaki Kuumerin built a system allowing to migrate the two keys alongside R1 and R2, the right triggers: “I made the system compatible so that players can aim with L2 and shoot with R2“.
To play It Takes Two on your own
Akaki Kumeri explains that he had the idea of such a system when he wanted to play It Takes Two, game of the year 2021 that can only be done for two. He therefore built this material with a right-handed version and a left-handed version, approach which he details at the end of his video. Moreover, the Youtubeur is not at his first attempt: he has already manufactured joystick adapters for PlayStation 5, and even cockpits adapted to virtual reality.
If this “equipment” for a one-handed controller is only available to those who have a 3D printer at home, such a creation might open the door to other innovations of the genre. Accessibility is an important subject in video games, where there is still a lot of work to do. Despite everything, many avenues of hope are opening up day following day. As evidenced by the outputs of Psychonauts 2 and more recently Forza Horizon 5, considered the most accessible Xbox game ever.
