PS5 has an edge over Xbox Series X, whose performance is harder to exploit

The technical director of the racing game WRC Generations recalled that the Xbox Series X has a more powerful chip, generating 12 teraflops, and on paper surpasses the PS5, which offers 10.28 teraflops.

But in reality, Benoît Jacquier admits that thanks to the PS5’s higher GPU clock speed (2.23 GHz compared to the XSX’s 1.825), Sony’s hardware has an advantage that allows developers to deliver better performance:

“With its higher clock speed, the PS5 provides us with direct and simpler performance advantages over the previous generation. Although the raw performance of the Xbox Series X GPU is higher, it is more difficult to use – better parallelism is required to use 52 CU. But I believe that in the long term, developers will be able to achieve better performance on the Xbox Series X.”
