From October 23, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will be able to stream PS5 games directly to their console, without downloading them.

Last summer, Sony announced that it was conducting tests on a new PlayStation 5 function: the possibility of playing PS5 games via Cloud, without downloading them first, on the console of course but also compatible devices such as PCs, Mac, iPhone and Android devices.

As promised, the function arrives on October 23 in France and the rest of Europe. This option is available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, and initially gives access to a selection of compatible titles, which will then be joined by hundreds of additional games, says Sony.

This will bring PS5 games from the PlayStation Plus catalog, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Mortal Kombat 11 and Saints Row IV, as well as trial versions for PS5 titles, such as Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Calisto Protocol. And also, additional PS5 digital titles that PlayStation Plus Premium members own, such as Resident Evil 4, Dead Island 2, Genshin Impact, Fall Guys, and Fortnite.

Please note that the games can be displayed in several resolutions to choose from, depending on the quality of your internet connection: Ultra HD 4K, 1440p, 1080p and 720p, in 60 fps and display in SDR or HDR. Finally, Sony specifies: “At launch, PS5 Cloud streaming will be exclusively available on the PS5 console”, suggesting that the functionality will arrive on other devices subsequently.
