As we all know, the built-in SSD performance of PS5 is very good, which can provide excellent read speed for games. Recently, according to media Engadget reports, some game developers said that because the PS5’s built-in SSD is too fast, they had to limit its speed to ensure the user’s experience.
It is reported that the game director Mathijs de Jonge and technical director Michiel van der Leeuw of “Horizon: Forbidden West” mentioned this issue in an interview. They say the PS5’s SSD loads very quickly, taking only 4 to 5 seconds to complete. However, this results in players not having time to read game tips and more.
During the test, the official learned that players rely on these tips very much, so they not only limited the speed of the SSD, but also added a mechanism to exit the screen by pressing a button, so as to avoid skipping content due to too fast loading. If you don’t need prompts, players can also turn on the “Instant Priority” option in the settings themselves, which will restore the fastest loading speed.
In addition, they praised other features of the PS5. For example, higher picture quality, higher frame rate, and adaptive triggers improve the game experience.
