The so-called “provocative inquiries” of a prominent official aroused the ire of CNT parliamentarians in the House of Councilors.

The parliamentary group of the Democratic Confederation of Labor in the House of Councilors has entered into the issue of restricting the practice of union work in the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social Economy, denouncing the irresponsible actions of some ministry officials by targeting serious union work.

According to what was reported by the Parliamentary Group of the Confederation in the person of Parliamentary Advisor Al-Karsh Khalihan, “some officials in the ministry are practicing restrictive and systematic behavior on the freedom of union affiliation,” noting that “one of the officials in the Directorate of Heritage Preservation, Innovation and Revitalization in the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social Economy – Handicraft Sector “He began to use provocative inquiries once morest the general secretary of the National Union of Handicrafts and Social Economy.”

In a written question to the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social Economy, the group renewed its call to take the necessary measures to protect the right to practice union work, calling for “opening a serious and responsible dialogue with the social parties regarding the demand file submitted since the beginning of the year 2024.”

In response to this issue, the National Office of the National Union of Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy expressed its “absolute and unconditional” solidarity with the General Secretary of the Union, while denouncing the directing of an inquiry to him, signed by a central director not concerned with these tasks, which it considered to reflect “the state of confusion occurring in Administrative management of the traditional industry sector.

The same office considered that “the passage of more than 60 days since the legal file was submitted to the relevant authorities without a response constitutes acceptance of the file,” calling at the same time on the Minister in charge of the sector to “accelerate the opening of a direct, serious, and responsible dialogue in light of the demand file that was submitted since the beginning of January.” 2024 and to intervene to withdraw the inquiry directed once morest the general secretary of the union.”

It should be noted that the aforementioned union office had held an emergency meeting in which it strongly denounced what it described as “the irresponsible actions of some ministry officials,” considering the inquiry that was the subject of controversy as “a dangerous precedent in the history of the ministry and a direct targeting of serious union work.”
