The vice-president of the Luanda Provincial Jiu-jitsu Association, Carlos André, told the newspaper O PAÍS, that the association is preparing to hold the Luanda City Cup, a competition to be held on the 25th of this month.
Carlos André explained that because the Angolan capital has the largest number of athletes, “the objective was to organize the competition over three days. Unfortunately, we are in financial difficulties.”
The person in charge stated that the association intends to improve in all aspects in 2024 to always bring good results. Carlos André highlighted that the Angolan Jiu Jitsu Federation has been working with the provincial association in what is the massification of this combat sport.
“We are thinking regarding holding a regional tournament, where Luanda will tour the other provinces of the country. namely Bengo, Uíge, Huíla and Cabinda”, he said.
On the other hand, the director said that in 2023 they managed to achieve the objectives defined by the sector.
“Last year, we held two provincial championships because, with the emergence of the pandemic in 2020, no activities were carried out, but, as stated in our mandate, we decided to compensate in the following years and we managed to conclude last year”, he explained.
