After the start of the provincial phase in the context of the fire which ravaged the Fagnes on the Belgian-German border, the governor of the province of Liège, Hervé Jamar, held this Tuesday, at 6 p.m., a meeting of the coordination committee provincial with the disciplines concerned and the mayor of Eupen.
“The situation remains under control but will require the intervention services to remain on the ground throughout the night“, indicates the press release. From daybreak on Wednesday, an aerial reconnaissance will make it possible to judge the situation and decide on the commitment of the German and/or Dutch air resources requested. The whole of the Hautes-Fagnes region between Eupen, Mützenich, Konzen, Roetgen and Raeren are therefore still part of the potential danger zone.In this entire area, access to pedestrians and bicycles is prohibited until the fire is completely extinguished for reasons of safety. The provincial and municipal authorities urge citizens and visitors to respect this ban and avoid the area.
