Health: One million and 850 thousand visits to family planning units at the level of the Republic for the purpose of obtaining a means
The Ministry of Health and Population announced the provision of reproductive health services and family planning methods free of charge to 59,201 beneficiaries last January through mobile clinics and service convoys, in the context of concern for family health and development and achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the ministry provided free family planning services to 57,588 beneficiaries through 141 reproductive health and service convoys, which were implemented in remote and first-care areas, and 1613 visits were carried out in mobile clinics for remote and slum areas.

Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that two clinics were opened to provide family planning services at the Health Insurance Hospital in Gharbia Governorate and Zayed Specialized Hospital in Giza Governorate, stressing the continuation of activating the free hotline service for family planning services and reproductive health advice (we are with you) on the number 08008880800 to respond to women’s inquiries regarding means and services Family planning, responding to rumors and directing women to places of service.

Abdul Ghaffar added that the ministry provides technical support to clinics affiliated with NGOs by training their work teams to provide high quality family planning services, as 86 NGO coordinators have been trained, and they are provided with family planning methods periodically “for free” and according to their needs. Pointing to the opening of a new private clinic in Gharbia Governorate; This brings the total number of clinics supported by NGOs that provide family planning services to 480 clinics, with 415 clinics affiliated with NGOs, and 65 clinics affiliated with the “2 Enough” project.

For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, Head of the Population and Family Planning Sector, indicated that the total visits to family planning units of the means reached 1,849,942 visits, pointing out that 66,269 copper coils were exchanged, 1,440,941 single and combined pills, and 22 thousand 956 subcutaneous capsules, 97,840 single and combined syringes, in addition to 369,564 other means.

He pointed to the implementation of 1,517,866 home visits through rural women pioneers in all governorates of the Republic, through which 83,368 educational seminars were presented to raise awareness of family planning services and means, promote health services and raise health awareness for the community, while adhering to measures to prevent the emerging corona virus, and transferring 806,655 beneficiaries of service provision outlets.

He confirmed the training of 1,590 service providers to provide counseling and family planning services, especially following childbirth and abortion. 353 women’s club officials were trained to empower women, and 243 statistics officials were trained on the “Al-Wissam” and mobile clinics electronic program.

And he announced the implementation of 3 supervisory visits during the past month, to 12 units specialized in providing family planning services in the governorates of Menoufia, Kafr El-Sheikh and Dakahlia, to follow up on the provision of family planning services in accordance with quality standards and to verify the availability of balances of family planning methods.
