Protesters throw red paint at Russian ambassador in Poland

Covered in red, the ambassador said he was proud of his president, Vladimir Putin.

Russian ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev was doused in red paint by pro-Ukrainian activists in Warsaw on Monday as he attempted to lay a wreath at a Soviet soldiers’ cemetery and mausoleum to mark Victory Day.

The images went viral on social media.

Several Russian news agencies published the video footage showing Andreev and several men with red paint splashed on their clothes and faces.

They were also surrounded by a chanting crowd, some carrying Ukrainian flags.

Covered in red, the ambassador said he was proud of his president Vladimir Putin.

He also noted that “these territories do not belong to Ukraine,” referring to Donetsk and Lugansk, located in Donbas.

Following the incident, according to international media, Russia is going to recall the Polish ambassador and also expel the Polish ambassador in Moscow.

It is worth mentioning that Poland tore down statues commemorating the Soviet Union (USSR).

This follows the reform years ago to ‘decommunize’ the country due to the atrocities committed during the times of communism.

Also because of the invasion suffered at the beginning of the Second World War.
