Iran: Video clips published on social media revealed that protesters in several Iranian cities chanted anti-government slogans during the night, including “Death to Khamenei,” in the wake of Building collapse, southwest.
Officials said the death toll rose to 34 on Tuesday, as well as the injury of 37 in the collapse of a 10-storey residential and commercial building on May 23 in Abadan in the oil-rich Khuzestan region. They added that rescuers are continuing to search for victims under the rubble.

The authorities stated that the reason for the collapse of the building was individual corruption and negligence in safety procedures, and said that 13 have been arrested so far for violating building rules.
However, Iranian protesters accused the government of neglect and rampant corruption.

In a video clip that might not be verified on Twitter, a chant of “Death to Khamenei” is heard in reference to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The location of the video clip indicates that it is in the Nazi-Abad neighborhood in southern Tehran.
Another video clip showed riot police roaming the same area on motorbikes, apparently to disperse or intimidate protesters.
In the southern port city of Bushehr, protesters chanted “Death to the dictator,” also in reference to Khamenei.
They also chanted: “They lie and say America, our enemy is here.” This chant was popularized in anti-government protests in Iran.

Video clips of protests in other Iranian cities were also posted on social media.
Iranian police used tear gas and fired shots into the air to disperse crowds, and clashed with demonstrators during the week-long protests.
In its coverage of events, the official media focused on mourning and funerals. In comments to state television, the governor of Abadan cautioned people to only follow state media, and to “avoid” rumors on social media.
