They demand the cancellation of the payment of the English subject
Students from the “Dr.Ignacio Chávez” Faculty of Medicine of the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH), took over the educational facilities. They prevented classes very early.
Through a statement, they expressed that they are requesting debt forgiveness for the English subject of the new general curriculum, as well as the medical technical English course.
“We will not make a compulsory payment to study the English subject”, the students affirm.
In addition, they request that the subject of English be taught within the faculty itself. They refuse to travel to the building of the Language Degree located in Ciudad Universitaria (CU), considering that it is an unnecessary expense.
UMSNH’s position on the blockade
Derived from the protest registered at the Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences “Dr. Ignacio Chávez” from the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH), it is reported that there has always been a willingness to dialogue with all the groups that are part of the university community, in order to resolve their doubts and concerns, such as those now they are motivating them to raise their voices.
Meanwhile, regarding the Languages program, the establishment of a quota is not new, this administration even offered a 30 percent discount for the students of all the Nicolaitas faculties, which did not happen at other times, since that benefit only It was for a number of educational programs that had an agreement with the Coordination of the Department of Languages.
At the same time, it is clarified that the establishment of the curricular mesh where the need for them to receive the subject of English is established, was approved by the Technical Council, where there is the representativeness of the university community, among them, students, for what does not exist nor was there any imposition.
The call made by the authority is that they do not allow themselves to be managed by political interests that try to harm the educational institution that trains dozens of generations of people specialized in the areas of health.
