The last application can be covered with a damp compress.” Health insurance recalls that “the burnt areas should above all not be re-exposed in the days following the sunburn because they are weakened.”

Sunscreen is therefore an essential part of a holiday in the sun. It reduces the risk of skin cancer. In 2020, there were 1.5 million new cases of the disease and 120,000 deaths, according to theWorld Health Organization (OMS).

In France, it is recommended to avoid exposure to the sun between 12 and 4 p.m., when the rays are the most dangerous. But, even outside this time slot, the Health Insurance recommends applying a thick layer of cream 30 minutes before exposure and reapplying it every two hours.
