Sharjah: The temperature in UAE continues to be above 47 degree Celsius. The midday rest rule has been implemented in the country to protect outdoor workers from extreme heat. Health awareness programs for workers working in extreme heat have been launched in Sharjah under the leadership of Labor Standards Development Authority (LSDA).

LSDA is also conducting heat exhaustion campaign from June 15 with the aim of creating awareness about health conditions caused by heat. LSDA Chairman Salem Youssef Al Qazir and senior LSDA officials participated in the first event held in Al Daed region.

The message of the campaign is that your safety is our goal. LSDA Chairman Salem Youssef Al Qaseer said that workshops will be held to educate workers on how to avoid health problems caused by overheating. The event was held at the Sharjah Daid Expo Center.

Officials will visit workplaces to educate workers about the health problems caused by extreme heat and ways to prevent it. Workers have been warned not to expose themselves to direct sunlight at noon. Awareness books and gifts were distributed to the workers as part of awareness raising.

The midday break is implemented to protect the workers from the intense summer heat. Till September 15, there is a ban on working in open areas exposed to direct sunlight from 12.30 pm to 3 pm in the country. Officials also believe that such decisions can create a work environment of global standards.

The campaign aims to increase the awareness of workers about safety norms and ensure compliance with the midday break rule.
