The protection of Moroccan cultural heritage and training were at the center of a meeting, Wednesday in Rabat, between the Minister of Culture, Youth and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and the Director General of the World Organization of Intellectual Property (WIPO), Daren Tang.

As for concrete projects on the ground, Mr. Tang mentioned the launch, by WIPO, of a 6 to 12-month training project for Essaouira marquetry artisans, specialized in the making of wooden objects. of Thuya, so that they can use intellectual protection in the promotion and packaging of their products in order to access new markets.
The discussions also focused on the different means of cooperation between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and WIPO, particularly in the field of training. Mr. Tang, in this sense, expressed his desire to work to develop training for ministry officials, according to the press release. They also focused on the establishment of a partnership with the Moroccan Office, with a view to exchanging expertise and experiences, and improving the capacities of executives and civil servants, in addition to the development of a joint work program, which aims to introduce a culture of intellectual property protection within youth institutions and summer camps, notes the same source, adding that these training courses will include new professions, including programming electronics, and the development of video games, in accordance with the strategy of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication.
During these talks, the two sides also agreed to sign a partnership agreement and develop an exchange visit program for further bilateral cooperation.
