The Ministry of Health on Thursday called on parents to protect their children and infants from acute respiratory illnesses.

The ministry stressed in a press release published by the basic health care directorate that acute respiratory inflammations in children and infants, which worsen during the winter season, are caused by viruses and bacteria affecting part of the respiratory tract. and pulmonary.

The risk of these inflammations increases in children under 5 years old and infants under 1 year old, according to this press release.

He specified that inflammation of the respiratory tract can initially appear as a simple cold with a mild or persistent cough and fever lasting between 5 and 10 days.

In this regard, the ministry recommends that parents wash their hands for 30 seconds with soap and water, avoid accompanying their children to closed public places and vaccinate them.
