The initiative of the Public Medicine and Health Magazine was carried out with great success.protect your skin PR´ in Plaza Las Américas at the premises of the Coalition for Immunization and Health Promotion VOCES PR.

The meeting, which made it possible to address important conditions of the fur such as psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, cancer of the furatopic dermatitis and even nodular prurigo, made it possible for patients to be better informed regarding these diseases and how they can take care of their fur at all times.

“Every day we continue to learn a little more regarding psoriasis and that is part of the support that we continue to bring to patients. Our main objective is to generate education regarding the condition,” said Nelson González, president of the Puerto Rican Association for Patient Assistance from Psoriasis (APPAP).

Through interactive talks, the experts shared important data on the origin, diagnosis, and treatment of each condition. In addition, several foundations that support patients with diseases of the fur in Puerto Rico shared their experiences of helping those who face these conditions on a daily basis.

For her part, Ketsy Román, creator of the community group Vivir con Dermatitis Atopica, acknowledged during the meeting that “for some reason I know that I have atopic dermatitis, it is for a purpose, that is why I take advantage of my work to spread the message regarding this condition, to generate awareness and educate the population of Puerto Rico”.

“All patients with hidradenitis or those with ingrown hairs, dilated pores, which are signs that I overlooked before my diagnosis, or also scars, I recommend that they go to the dermatologist, and if the first one doesn’t tell you anything, go to another. because I had several doctors until I got to my dermatologist. My biggest advice is not to give up” Juliana Urrutia, patient and member of the Golondrinos Hidradenitis Suppurativa Group.
