Many citizens of Greater Montreal are preparing for the worst as heavy precipitation is expected in the region this weekend.
Between 50 and 80 millimeters of rain are forecast.
In Montreal North, for example, we have not forgotten the floods of August 30, which caused serious damage to many homes.
In an interview with TVA Nouvelles, the building expert at the Burex Group, Sylvain Brosseau, proposed several ideas for actions that can be taken to reduce the risk of flooding in your home.
«[Il faut] ensure that the gutter spouts are well cleaned and extend them by at least four feet to keep water as far away from the building as possible. If you have garage downspouts, add pockets of sand to the top of the downspout where it meets the sidewalk. It will reduce the flow of water towards the house,” he mentions.
Mr. Brosseau also recommends clearing the sump in front of the garage door and ensuring that the pumps in the collection tanks are functional and clear of the drip point.
