North Korea also disseminated the news of Hinnam-no to North Korea in real time, ordering all-out measures to prevent damage.

Not only do they inform the typhoon’s course or areas where heavy rain is expected, but they also say that crops for harvest must not be lost, and they are risking their lives to minimize damage.

This news will be delivered by reporter Jeong Dong-hoon.

“Among the typhoons that have occurred this year, the intensity is the strongest, and the movement path is abnormal…”

In addition, daily special broadcasts were also organized to introduce in detail how to cope with strong winds and heavy rains, while emphasizing the strict response of the agricultural sector in particular.

“The duties of agricultural workers (executives) and workers are more important than anyone else in the business to prevent typhoons and flood damage.”

The Rodong Sinmun also appealed to Party officials and residents to come up with thorough measures to prevent damage, saying, “If we do not prevent the damage from the typhoon, we will lose the crops we have been working hard on.”

They are doing all-out warfare to protect the crops ahead of the harvest season.

Following the typhoon damage two years ago, the food shortage has been exacerbated by the heavy rains in the early summer of last year and the drought in spring this year.

This is because if crops are damaged once more by this typhoon, the food shortage will inevitably become more serious.

“(From the leadership point of view) I have had the experience that such a natural disaster not only dissipates public sentiment but also has a huge impact on the economy.”

North Korea’s meteorological authorities have issued heavy rain and strong wind warnings in Kaesong and South Hwanghae Province, expecting up to 150 mm of heavy rain until tomorrow.

It was found that the Hwanggam Dam upstream of the Imjin River was also opened to control the water level, but once more, there was no prior notice from our side this time.

The government has sent a notice in the name of the Minister of Unification asking for advance notice when the dam is released, but the North said that it had not responded.
