The future is not determined, it is a collective construction in which will and chance intervene. Understood in this way, companies are how we manage them, with individual actions that together make a whole. For this, visions of the future are decisive, generate consensus and seek to achieve well-being for society.
Antioquia has a long history of prospective exercises that have helped us come together as a society. Not only economic development, inequality, inclusion for new opportunities, but also other aspects, such as trust, have been discussed seeking to build appropriation agendas by the different sectors and institutions and managing to trigger specific actions that materialize the outlined axes.
The Antioquia 2040 exercise is a successful and consistent commitment to the duties of a president or leader of Antioquia society, that is, to generate discussions of diverse thoughts to understand the present and imagine a better future for all. At the time, the 21st Century Antioquia Vision inspired us as Antioquians, it traced a north that today is reviewed in light of its progress and mistakes.
It is worth highlighting the way in which this new exercise of Antioquia 2040 has been approached, by sitting different currents of thought at the same table to promote technical and, if you will, political discussions, which allow us to chart a promising future for our society.
It seems right to me that this discussion is organic and not regarding immovable scenarios that must be followed to the letter for the next 20 years. In other words, updating the agenda, correcting it or maintaining it according to the winds that blow is an exercise in self-criticism that is not only valuable, but also essential for a proposal like this one.
This is more important in today’s country. We must make a call for collective construction, without losing the ability to criticize and having a rational opposition so that within the framework of the new government we write the possible scenarios of our society. We all agree that if we do not act to find ourselves on a path where we all have a place, we may end up in the reality of catastrophic situations.
The institutional strength, its independence and equanimity, a joint agenda to build a more conscious capitalism, without pointing out sectors and rather all of us concentrating on doing it better and writing a path of transition, hope and a better life for all, would generate the dose of optimism that today we lack as a society.
One of the main tasks of a ruler is to generate trust, optimism and consensus and mark a path of integration in collective visions. Antioquia is already making it; hopefully it is the beginning to bring an agenda with exercises similar to the rest of the country.
We live in a fractured country, the challenge is not minor
