revenue in the DACH region in the fourth quarter was slightly above the previous year’s level.

The television group ProSiebenSat.1 ended the past year somewhat better than expected due to one-off effects. The adjusted operating result (Ebitda) fell by 15 percent to 578 million euros in 2023, the operator of channels such as ProSieben, Sat.1 and Kabel 1 announced on Tuesday. 550 million euros were expected. In Austria, ProSiebenSat.1 is represented by ProSiebenSat.1Puls 4. In addition to Puls 4, these include ATV, ATV 2 and Puls 24.

The deviation in the operating result results from “various smaller and non-recurring earnings effects,” it said in the statement. In the fourth quarter, the television group earned 33 million euros more from operations than a year earlier. Sales fell by eleven percent to 3.85 billion euros and, as expected, were below 3.95 billion.

CFO Martin Mildner was satisfied: “We ended 2023 well. In the crucial fourth quarter, our advertising revenue in the DACH region was slightly above the previous year’s level.” At the same time, the savings took effect. “This makes us confident for 2024, even if the economic environment remains challenging,” emphasized Mildner. For the current year, he continues to expect a slight increase in sales and a roughly stable adjusted Ebitda. However, this turned out to be better than expected in 2023 a little more for 2024: between 525 and 625 million euros. The net debt at the end of December was 1.55 (end of 2022: 1.61) billion euros.
