The Public Ministry initiated an administrative investigation once morest the assistant lawyer of the Arauco Prosecutor’s Office, Luis Muñoz Jaramillo.
As revealed by the BioBioChile Research Unitthis is the professional who has represented the prosecuting agency in the formalization hearings of two relevant defendants linked to the theft of wood: Carlos Cigarroa Arriagada and Rodrigo Ormeño Gómez, alias El Mentolato.
Despite the fact that both have a heavy judicial backpack, Muñoz Jaramillo simply did not request the preventive detention of the detainees. Nor did he go so far as to expose the extensive police records of those arrested.
Cigarroa currently -and at the request of the persecutor himself- was left with a fortnightly signature and national roots, while El Mentolato was imposed preventive detention in the Court of Appeals of Concepción.
