Following a complaint made by Renovación Nacional, the Public Ministry will open an investigation to detect possible crimes committed in the delivery of grace pensions to people with convictions and/or criminal records.
Specifically, the Chile Vamos party filed a complaint with the State Defense Council for possible crimes of treasury fraud and prevarication. This, following a report from the Comptroller’s Office revealed that 58 individuals received this benefit despite having a criminal record.
This is what he revealed Thirddetailing that the proceedings of the Prosecutor’s Office will seek, in principle, to evaluate in detail the report of the supervisory entity, despite the fact that situations constituting a crime have not yet been detected in this case.
However, the Public Ministry was emphatic in pointing out that, if they find antecedents that go in that direction, they will not hesitate to pursue those responsible.
It is important to remember that the Comptroller’s report also revealed that a dozen people who did not present medical reports that support their categorization as a human rights victim to receive the benefit.
