The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation wants to change the decree of the President of Russia on measures to support the IT industry, transmits August 11 TASS. It is reported that the authors of the initiative intend to adjust the age of granting IT-specialists a deferment from conscription for military service.

“The Ministry of Digital Development is preparing a proposal to adjust the relevant decree in connection with the increase in the military age,” the agency quotes the statement of the head of the ministry, Maksut Shadayev.

Shadayev recalled that in the presidential decree on supporting the IT industry there is a separate clause on exemption from conscription for military service up to 27 years. But a lot has changed since then. On August 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law establishing the draft age for military service in the country from 18 to 30 years (it was up to 27). The law comes into force on January 1, 2024.

Recall that on the eve of the signing of the new law, the question of whether they will be taken into the army at the age of 30 caused a discussion. Deputy Andrei Kartapolov said that it should read “30 years inclusive”, but Senator Andrei Klishas and lawyers explained that the parliamentarian was mistaken.
