“Proposal to Rename Sevastopol to ‘Object No. 6’ made by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary amidst criticism referring to it as ‘Statement of Sick People’ in the annexed city.”

Oleksiy Danilov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, shared on Facebook a program called “12 steps for the de-occupation of Crimea.” These steps include a proposal to completely dismantle the Crimean bridge, erecting a monument, and renaming Sevastopol to “Object No. 6.” According to Danilov, the renaming is necessary because Sevastopol plays a role in Russian ideology, myth-making, and rewriting of history. The proposals were prepared by the NSDC apparatus with the participation of experts and will be reflected in the updated “Crimea de-occupation strategy.” However, the governor of annexed Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, dismissed the proposals, saying that the statements of Ukrainian politicians should not be taken seriously, as they are like entries in the medical record from ward number six.
